The idea of “faith” brings forth visions of sneering professors pounding fists into wooden desks as spittle flies from their mouths along with the conviction that “one cannot succeed in life with faith; only hard work and evidence can stay strong”. Yet alongside comes the memories of childhood beliefs in such fantasies as: the Tooth Fairy, Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, the Boogie Monster, etc.
To many, the word is reminiscent of religions, particularly religions such as Islam, Christianity, and Judaism for their belief in an unseen God. However, faith applies to all people, regardless of religion or lack thereof – to love and trust another is to put faith in them. Believing that something will happen without having seen it is to have faith. Faith - the belief in substances not seen. And for some, to have faith is to simply believe.
